Our School

Education During Covid

01486Following the extended period of school change during the Covid 19 pandemic, we made some temporary alterations to our curriculum. These changes were implemented to ensure that all our pupils returning had access to a nurturing and welcoming approach to learning to re-establish strong learning behaviours.

We prioritised key subject areas: Reading, Writing, Phonics, Maths and PHSCE and worked on a whole school Wellbeing theme for Autumn 1. Teachers planned high quality lessons around key texts which covered objectives missed from the previous year group's objectives in the previous summer term.

In Autumn 2 we covered the non-core subject content which was missed in the summer term in order to ensure no child was left behind or had gaps in their learning. Again, core subject progress were prioritised throughout and content was delivered through high quality themed texts.

This curriculum was constantly under review, flexible and responsive to our pupil's needs. The intention was that, from January 2021, all year groups were in a position to work on their age-related curricular objectives - something which was, in the main, successfully achieved.
